News, Notes, and Nods: In Memoriam

Remembering the alumni and members of the Babson community who have passed recently:

William Rankin “Bill” Dill H’91, Babson College’s eighth president, died March 31 in Auburndale, Massachusetts. Dill served as Babson’s president from 1981 to 1989, a period of important growth and development for the College. During his tenure, Babson expanded its reach and reputation, including opening new opportunities for students and faculty to engage internationally. Under his leadership, the College also strengthened the facilities and infrastructure that support student life, executive education, and learning across campus.
Dr. Paula M. Rooney, Babson College’s former vice president of student affairs from 1985 to 1995, died March 17 after a lengthy illness. A dedicated college leader whose career spanned several institutions, Rooney impacted thousands of students and colleagues through her commitment to student development and higher education leadership. She went on to serve as president of Dean College for 27 years and held national leadership roles, including president of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
