Babson Collaborative Honors Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education

Listen

The Babson Collaborative for Entrepreneurship Education announced its annual awards during the 2023 Babson Collaborative Global Summit in March at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile.

The Babson Collaborative’s annual awards recognize achievements and excellence in entrepreneurship education as well as the dedication and contributions of members in supporting the mission of the Babson Collaborative for Entrepreneurship Education. There are currently 36 Collaborative member institutions in 24 countries.

Spotlight Award—Universidad del Rosario (Colombia) for The Art of Entrepreneurship: Awakening Your Creative Energy, a global virtual summer course that teaches entrepreneurial skills and mindset through the lens of artists. At the center of the program is the idea that new leaders, especially entrepreneurs, have to be sensitive to their environment, and be empathetic storytellers who can relate and connect with others. The AoE uses an exploration of innovative artistic techniques and context to help participants acquire a greater understanding of the value of art and what it can contribute to the integral entrepreneurial training of individuals.

The award presentation also gave special recognition to Andrea Ávila, María Correa, Katherine Granja, Massimo Manzoni, Angela Pulido, and Fernando Sierra.

Member of the Year Award—Carlos Varela, director of entrepreneurship and social responsibility, Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile). The award recognizes Varela’s entrepreneurial leadership in the Babson Collaborative and the countless ways he encourages engagement at all levels. Varela has continuously worked with others to implement cross-institution initiatives that serve and help advance their entrepreneurship programs. He also serves the larger Babson Collaborative community in various ways, including as primary host for the 2023 Global Summit.
