It’s already been a historic spring season for Babson College’s varsity athletic programs, and, even as the academic year winds down, the postseason remains red hot.

For the first time in institution history, four programs (baseball, men’s lacrosse, men’s tennis, and women’s tennis) won New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championships in a single season. The four spring conference titles are part of a record eight conference championships that Babson varsity teams have won in 2025–26, joining field hockey, women’s golf, men’s soccer, and men’s basketball.

“This spring has been nothing short of historic, capping a remarkable year across our athletics program,” said Mike Lynch, Pamela P. and Brian M. Barefoot Associate Vice President for Athletics and Athletics Advancement. “These achievements reflect years of strategic investment and relentless work by our coaches to seize the opportunities created by Babson’s rise. By attracting and developing elite student‑athletes, we’ve built programs capable of competing for championships. Babson has become a place where we can win in every dimension—and our success is affirming that belief.”

Seven spring teams earned spots in their respective NCAA tournaments. The men’s lacrosse and women’s tennis teams continue to compete, with both having advanced to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals for the first time, while the baseball team kicks off tournament play Friday.

Elsewhere across the postseason, Babson women’s tennis players Matia Cristiani ’26 (ranked No. 1 in the nation) and Sandra Sikharulidze ’29 (ranked No. 11), and men’s tennis player Alexander Merson ’26 (ranked No. 17), will take part in the NCAA individual national championships May 18-21 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In addition, men’s and women’s track & field high jumpers Skyler Mott MBA’27 and Amrit Rehal ’28 will compete at the NCAA track & field championships May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

This academic year, 13 of Babson’s 23 varsity programs competed in their national tournaments, continuing a streak of dominance. Also, Julia Wiacek ’27 won the first individual national championship in the women’s alpine skiing program’s history. Babson has won three consecutive NEWMAC Men’s Presidents Cups, an all-sports award presented to the top men’s and women’s programs in the conference.

“Student-athletes at Babson play an integral role in unifying our community,” Babson President Stephen Spinelli Jr. MBA’92, PhD said. “They lead in the classroom and on the playing field, and they so perfectly embody what it means to be an entrepreneurial leader. Their successes this year are a testament of their character and commitment to excellence.”

Graduating athletes competing in their respective playoffs and unable to attend Commencement will be celebrated on campus at a special Commencement ceremony Monday, May 18.
