Bowie State University has awarded Babson College’s Heidi Neck the Trailblazer Award in Entrepreneurial Education. The award was presented to Neck, the Jeffry A. Timmons Professor of Entrepreneurship, at the fifth annual HBCU+ Entrepreneurship Conference earlier this month.

“The Trailblazer Award celebrates educators who change how the world learns entrepreneurship,” said Johnetta B. Hardy, executive director and founder of Bowie State’s Entrepreneurship Innovation Center.

Selected by a committee of academics, representing entrepreneurship faculty and program leaders, the Trailblazer Award honors an educator who has advanced entrepreneurship education and empowered students and faculty to create real-world impact.

The committee recognized Neck’s dedication to entrepreneurship education programs around the world. At Babson, Neck serves as academic director of the Babson Academy and faculty director of the Price-Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators.

“Our committee unanimously chose Heidi because her leadership and teaching have ignited thousands of educators and students worldwide,” said Hardy, who is also chair of the HBCU+ Entrepreneurship Conference. The conference was hosted by Bowie State, Maryland’s first historically black public university.

At the virtual conference, Babson President Stephen Spinelli Jr. MBA’92, PhD presented the Trailblazer Award to Neck. “This award recognizes a pioneer in entrepreneurship education,” Spinelli said. “Heidi has inspired educators across the globe.”

Upon receiving the award, Neck expressed gratitude. “I am deeply grateful to be recognized for my work,” she said. “I am excited to continue pushing the boundaries in entrepreneurship education.”
