Unscripted Moment: Meeting Roger and Gracie

Ariel C. Armony smiles as he pets Gracie while Roger looks on

The Babson College campus is packed with memorable and unexpected moments, which we love to capture and share. In this occasional series, Unscripted Moment, our staff photographer Nic Czarnecki and others share the story behind a recent favorite photo.

Ariel C. Armony, who will be joining Babson College as its new provost and executive vice president this fall, recently met two of the campus’ most popular members—community resource dogs Roger and Gracie. Armony spent that day at Babson, meeting with leaders and faculty in preparation for his new role, when he visited the Herring Family Entrepreneurial Leadership Village (HELV). Here, photographer Nic Czarnecki describes the tail-wagging welcome:

“He stopped by the HELV, where there was already a number of people awaiting to meet him and introduce themselves. I was there to grab a quick formal portrait of Ariel. When he walked in, he spotted both Roger and Gracie and immediately lit up with a smile. Without hesitation, he got down and spent a good five minutes playing with the pups. It’s a real fun moment for me to capture, especially when you’re expecting to just grab a quick portrait but then you see someone light up and play with the pups during a meet and greet moment.”
