From the President: Perpetually Aspirational

A view of the Babson campus from a drone on a gorgeous fall day

The need for entrepreneurial leadership is clear. As emerging technologies become ubiquitous and society grows increasingly interconnected, there are limitless opportunities for entrepreneurs to have profound impacts around the world. We see that in the ways our alumni impart change every day by approaching challenges with innovative and unique approaches. The social and economic value they add to their communities is impressive.

Babson has long asserted that entrepreneurship is core to humanity. Others are taking notice now, too. While we’ve been at the forefront of entrepreneurship education for decades—as evidenced by our consistent place atop U.S. News & World Report’s undergraduate and MBA rankings—Babson has ascended to a new leadership position across higher education. The Wall Street Journal recently ranked Babson as the 10th best college in the country. This unprecedented accolade affirms that entrepreneurship has evolved from a competency that can be taught to one that must be taught.

Every day on campus, we see purpose-filled interactions that set our community of entrepreneurial leaders apart. This issue of Babson Magazine illustrates the vibrancy of a day in the life of our campus that engenders not only a greater sense of purpose but also a greater sense of community. Our students thrive in this culture that includes a lot of intensity and a lot of joy. It inspires me every day.

Babson students carry the torch from the scores of successful alumni who have come before them and lead successful careers and innovative ventures. As we mark the arrival of the 20th cohort of Posse Scholars, this issue also profiles four Posse alumni who are using their Babson education to promote positive change.

While the value of a Babson degree has been elevated to new heights, entrepreneurial leaders never rest on their achievements. We remain perpetually aspirational. I’m inspired by the commitment of our alumni and the many ways they lead around the world. Your support will play an important role as we continue our ascension.

A Babson education uniquely prepares entrepreneurial leaders. Like you, I’m eager to see what our diverse and inclusive community accomplishes next.
