Babson’s Centennial year may be coming to a close, but in its final regular season game of the year, the women’s soccer team found another way to celebrate the number 100.

Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Mount Holyoke marked the 100th win at Babson for head coach Nellie Pineault MBA’03 since she took over the program in 2010. “It was certainly exciting,” said Pineault. “For me, it culminates what our current team, alums, and past and present coaching staff have contributed. It’s not about me, it’s about them.”

The team posed for a picture after the game with signs commemorating the victory.

Pineault joins women’s basketball head coach Judy Blinstrub and field hockey head coach Julie Ryan as active Babson College woman coaches with 100 wins.

The win also secured the seventh and final spot in the NEWMAC tournament. On Tuesday night, Babson topped the Coast Guard Academy, 2-1, in tournament play and became the first seventh seed to advance to the NEWMAC semifinals since 2007.

“It’s very humbling that I’ve had the opportunity to be here at Babson,” she said. “Our team has worked so hard. You know how important the long-term vision is in the regular season, the work put in day to day from everyone has paid off.”

Pineault served as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team from 2004–2009. She has led the team to 10 or more wins a season on five occasions, and to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015.

Pineault also has coached 25 all-conference selections, and her players have earned 14 NSCAA and NEWISA All-New England honors since 2010.
