During the past several days, one thought leader had a book published in Chinese while another was named editor of an academic journal.

Celebrating the Graduates of Cultivate Small Business

Babson, Santander Bank, CommonWealth Kitchen and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City celebrated the graduates of the second cohort of Cultivate Small Business on April 23, led by Vice Provost of Global Entrepreneurial Leadership Candida Brush. Entrepreneurs presented action plans and pitches they grew during the class, which empowers women, minority, and immigrant-owned businesses and equips early-stage entrepreneurs with the tools needed for success in the food business.

Professor Selected for Fellowship at NYU

History professor Marjorie Feld was selected as the Goldstein Goren Fellow at New York University’s Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies. Feld, who will begin a full-year sabbatical from Babson this fall, is a member of the Academic Advisory Councils of the Jewish Women’s Archive, the American Jewish Historical Society, and Jewish Voice for Peace. The Skirball department “offers one of the most comprehensive Jewish studies programs in North America for both graduate and undergraduate students,” according to its website.

Entrepreneur’s Book Published in Chinese

Entrepreneur in Residence Leonard Green’s book, TheEntrepreneur’sPlaybook, was published in Chinese. The book offers strategies, tips, and exercises for building a successful business. Green is the founder of accounting, tax, consulting and advisory firm The Green Group and is an original investor in Blue Buffalo pet food company.

Dean of the Graduate School Shares Networking Advice

Keith Rollag, dean of the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business shared networking advice in a story that appeared on The Enterprisers Project. Rollag offered suggestions for networking with people you do not know, and his advice was part of a series of tips on making the most out of a networking event.

Rollag is the author of What to Do When You’re New: How to Be Comfortable, Confident, and Successful in New Situations.

Professor Named Editor of Academic Journal

Professor Victoria Crittenden was named editor in chief of the Journal of Marketing Education, a role she will assume in September. She has served on the publication’s editorial team for several years and also has held the title of associate editor. “Vicky has published extensively in the top educational scholarship journals in the business, as well as in highly-ranked scholarly and practitioner journals,” the publication said in a press release.
