Julie Levinson Appointed The William R. Dill Governance Professor

Professor of Film Julie Levinson has been appointed The William R. Dill Governance Professor, an endowed chair professorship.

Headshot of Julie LevinsonLevinson also is currently the chair of the Arts and Humanities Division and is one of the associate deans of faculty. Prior to those administrative roles, she was the director of the Babson Honors Program for 12 years. She has served multiple times on the Appointments Decision Making Body, on several dean search committees, and on many other college committees and initiatives.

Additionally, Levinson has been a Babson Research Scholar and has previously held two term chairs. She was one of the faculty members who oversaw the launch, and established the mission, of the Sorenson Center for the Arts. She initiated and has programmed the Global Film Series since first joining Babson.

As a scholar of cultural history, she is the author of The American Success Myth on Film, the editor of Alexander Payne: Interviews, and the co-editor of Acting: Behind the Silver Screen. Her articles in journals and edited collections focus on a wide range of topics including genre and gender, documentary film, metafiction, and narrative theory. Her scholarship also has resulted in curated film series that have toured museums and film festivals internationally.

William R. Dill H’91 was the eighth president of Babson College, serving from 1981 to 1989.
