Joey Flannery ’17 Elected to Small College Basketball Hall of Fame

Joey Flannery ’17 broke schools records, earned national awards, and made history as the most decorated player in the history of the Babson College men’s basketball program.

Now, Flannery is the first Babson player elected to the Small College Basketball (SCB) Hall of Fame

Flannery, now the associate head coach at Babson, was selected late last month to the SCB Hall of Fame in a class of 12 players, coaches, and contributors. He will be inducted during the SCB Hall of Fame ceremony October 31 in Lakeland, Fla.

The SCB Hall of Fame honors the best players, coaches, and contributors from the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA levels. Flannery will take his spot in the Hall of Fame, alongside basketball legends such as M.L. Carr, Walt Frazier, Phil Jackson, Earl Monroe, and Willis Reed, as well as basketball inventor James Naismith. 

Flannery—who was inducted into the Babson Athletics Hall of Fame in September—was a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Player of the Year and earned D3hoops.com Player of the Year honors after leading the Beavers to the NCAA Division III national championship in 2017. 

Babson’s only three-time All-America selection, Flannery ranks first in program history and ninth in Division III history with 2,620 points. He also holds program records for made field goals (863) and made free throws (689). Flannery averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 119 career games.
