Four member schools were inducted into the Babson Collaborative Circle of Influence this spring at the Babson Collaborative Global Summit, hosted by EDC Paris Business School.

The eighth annual summit was the largest ever, including 74 participants from 29 member institutions in 21 countries. The theme of the summit this year was “The Power of Global Entrepreneurship Education: Cultivating Innovation Through Collaboration,” and it featured 30 speakers from 11 member institutions from seven countries.

The Collaborate Circle of Influence is an elevated level of membership that celebrates schools’ longevity in the Babson Collaborative and their demonstrated collaboration, engagement, impact, and leadership within the organization. The newly inducted members are Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Jounieh, Lebanon; Mahindra University in Hyderabad, India; TBS Education in Toulouse, France; and Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja in Ecuador.

In addition to the Collaborative Circle of Influence, two annual awards were presented at the summit for outstanding member achievements:

Spotlight Award

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), a public national research university in the capital of Brunei, received the Spotlight Award for its program, EntreMasterclass. The Spotlight Award is given to a member institution that demonstrates excellence and innovation in entrepreneurship education.

Consisting of eight cohorts, EntreMasterclass is designed to help UBD staff develop an entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving skills, and to promote innovative thinking. The award was presented with special recognition to Masairol Masri, Norwahida Shukeri, Annie Dayani, and Thuraya Said.

Member of the Year Award

Rajkumar Phatate, professor and head of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Mahindra University, received the Member of the Year Award, which is presented to an individual in recognition of entrepreneurial leadership in the Collaborative and for encouraging engagement at all levels.

Phatate has a long history of giving back to the Collaborative, including multiple contributions to the Academic Content Library, as a webinar host and Global Summit presenter, as a judge for the Global Student Challenge, and as an author of a chapter in the new Collaborative publication, Developing Entrepreneurial Mindsets, Ideas, and Opportunities: A Guide for Educators
