Unscripted Moment: Snow Day
The Babson College campus is packed with memorable and unexpected moments, which we love to capture and share. In this occasional series, Unscripted Moment, our staff photographer Nic Czarnecki and others share the story behind a recent favorite photo.
I was on campus on the morning of December 5 during the first snow of the season. The campus seemed pretty quiet with classes wrapping up. I was shooting a scenic, snow-covered Tomasso Hall when I noticed students outside of Publishers Hall laughing in the snow as they were rolling large snowballs.
I couldn’t help but approach them, capture the moment, and get their story. They were first-year students from Hawaii, Harmony Powers ’28 and Yoyo Li ’28. It was their first time seeing snow, and they couldn’t help but make their first snowman. Their friend, Noa Wong ’28, also from Hawaii, helped build the snowman. It was his second time seeing snow. Yoyo and Noa even had to share one pair of gloves.
Harmony ran into her residence hall to get a Babson scarf to put on their snowman—that was the icing on the cake and made the moment so wonderful.
