Babson Teams Excel at Insight Impact Data Hackathon
Two teams of students from Babson’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business placed in the top three at the Insight Impact Data Hackathon this month at the College.
The event, led by the Babson Analytics Club, involved using non-traditional data sources to predict credit worthiness from under-represented groups in a real-world business problem case.
The hackathon included teams from Babson, Bentley University, Brandeis, Boston University, and Northeastern in the final. The top three place winners (pictured above) were:
- First place — The Outliers, from Babson: Deepanshi Bansal MBA’24, Jose Miguel Cervantes Siles MBA’24, Daniel Danés MBA’24, and Mobasshir Hasan MBA’24.
- Second place — Quartet, from Bentley University: Yang Gao, Kejing Hu, Yihao Li, and Wanying Xu.
- Third place — Autobots, from Babson: Pranit Chand MSBA’24, Parth Badani MSBA’24, Ajeya Narayanaswamy MBA’25, and Emediong Akpan MSBA’24.
The event was sponsored by Metropolitan Commercial Bank, which also participated in the judging panel, including judges Jean-Philippe Gerbi and Prashant Saurabh Singh, alongside Marc Beasley MBA’10 from Sensitech, Richard Newman from BlackRock, and Tifani Ramic ’14.
The Babson Analytics Club expressed its gratitude to Jessica Chance, director of Babson’s Graduate Center for Career Development; Katherine Worthington, associate director of Babson’s Graduate Student Life and Leadership; and Professor Anirudh Dhebar, as well as faculty advisors Professor Dessislava Pachamanova, the Zwerling Family Endowed Term Chair; Assistant Professor Nada Hashmi, and Associate Professor of Practice Mike McGuirk, for their assistance in organizing the event.
