Senior Awards Ceremony Celebrates Class of 2020
Babson honored and celebrated its most accomplished graduates at this year’s Senior Awards Ceremony, held completely online for the first time in Babson’s history.
“The Senior Awards celebrate the academic and cocurricular achievements of the Class of 2020. There are a total of 31 awards given out for merits and qualities such as meaningful contributions to life on campus, excellence, persistence and loyalty, and leadership to name a few,” said Ian Lapp, dean of the Undergraduate School.
Three categories of awards are given. Non-divisional awards are selected by the Senior Awards Committee—comprised of faculty and staff—after soliciting nominations from the Babson community. The Michael J. Conlon Senior Spirit Award is selected solely by the Class of 2020. Divisional Awards are selected by the division chair and faculty of that division, and are based on specific criteria.
“Among the many things that make Babson students special, particularly the Class of 2020, is that they are renaissance people. From startups to the stage. From innovation to improv. From strategy to singing. From analytics to athletics,” said Lapp.
The ceremony features speakers and musical guests performing from around the world.
“Don’t forget how you feel today. Satisfaction, pride, contribution, exhilaration. Remember, you are the architects of your lives. And, you have the tools to build your life in wondrous ways,” said Babson President Stephen Spinelli Jr. MBA’92, PhD.
Speakers and presenters included Lapp, Spinelli, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Lawrence Ward, and Associate Director, Senior Class Dean Dan Kwash.
“It has been a pure joy to bear witness to the greatness of this class,” said Lapp.
Awards were given to a total of 31 students. Isaac Darwiche ’20 won the esteemed Michael Conlon award, given to the senior who embodies leadership, integrity, loyalty, academic excellence, and a willingness to find the time to care for and support others.
