Babson College Finance Professor Michael Goldstein, the Donald P. Babson Professor of Applied Investments, has been appointed editor of Financial Management (FM). Goldstein is joined by Kathleen Kahle of the University of Arizona and Shawn Thomas of the University of Pittsburgh as the new editors.

Financial Management serves the profession by publishing significant new scholarly research in finance that is of the highest quality. The principal criteria for publication in the quarterly journal are originality, rigor, timeliness, practical relevance, and clarity.

Goldstein, the former faculty director of the Master of Science in Finance program at Babson, will begin his three-year term as FM Editor in October. Goldstein also recently was named the editor of The Financial Review, is the editor of Weather, Climate, and Society, and the secretary/treasurer of the Financial Management Association.

At Babson, Goldstein has taught the course Arctic Economics: Climate and Policy, which involves a mix of coursework, research, and excursions. For a little over two weeks, students studied at Nord University in Bodø, Norway, and were joined in the course with students and faculty from Nord and Brown University. Previously, Goldstein brought Babson students to Canada’s Northwest Territories to study ice roads used by long-haul truck drivers. Both trips were partially funded by U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) grants.
